Magnaflow on '03 V8?

What's the deal with the magnaflow exhaust for sale at PP?

Here's a link:

http://www.performanceproducts.com/P...producttype=20

I've heard a couple of different things:

One is that the exhaust is a custom job from PP with a magnaflow muffler, but I doubt magnaflow would let someone put thier name on a system if they didnt mfg it.

The second is that there is a system in the works by magnaflow but it aint avail yet?

Can anyone offer any feedback?

Thanks!
Marco.

I think I remember reading that someone emailed Magnaflow and they said it was in the works but not complete, even though PP showed this..so who knows

Question off topic, Do you have any pics of your Catz 4300 HIDs?

I emailed magnaflow a few weeks ago asking about that cat-back system they were selling on performanceproducts.com and some other websites. They said they don't make a cat-back system for the 03 4runner. So, the system they are selling is probably just made up of a magnaflow muffler and some other random parts.

I say PP is scamming. Probably some junk pipes thrown into a box with a magna flow muffler.

*It should say on the bottom, "be prepared to replace soon after purchase!"

The stock pipes are good pipes, I wouldn't spend to much money to replace them, they look like they have a good flow, with nice very low restirction bends, Changing the muffler for a different sound is probably all thats worth doing, unless someone makes true duals

I had a custom single pipe magnaflow system installed on my 4.7L Runner from cat-back with a stainless 3" diam, 20" long slash cut tip and love it. Dual pipes would have looked great, but would not have amounted to anything except more $'s. We put on the tiny "turbo" muffler, that is basically a straight shot thru and only about 10 inches long...and all was done for $235. I'm not overly fond of the twin tipped side exit PP Magna setup anyway...just go custom and save some dinero...my .02...peace.

I am the one who did most of the research on the system that PP is selling.

I have now had it confirmed from two different sources within Magnaflow that the system does exist. When I first started chasing it, a pre-production only version was in existence at Magnaflow and it was " 2-3 months away from production"

I also initially was told, in an aemail, that they did not have a system.

PP have been advertising it for around 2 months and they got the first in stock a little over a week ago.

I am tempted to pull the trigger (they are holding one for me) but I will have to decide within the next 2-3 days.

I will report back (obvioulsy!) if I get it.

Hello,

The stock pipes to do look good, but the stock collector from the manifolds is terrible. It looks like they took to 2" pipes crushed the ends with a hammer and crammed that into a 3" collector. I want to at least get rid of that. I am going to try and find a new collector for that.

Later, Joseph

Thanks for all the input everyone,

I recently ordered the JDM TRD exhaust, I ordered it locally, it should be here in a week or so, but now I dont think I want it due to the "ricer' look of the exit and tip. I'm probably going to just sell it on ebay or something.

I really like the magnaflow set up, but im nervous to be the first one to get thier feet wet with magnaflow! David, if you go for the system please post you experience with it, I'm sure there are others with extreme interest in this product.

Thanks,
Marco.

PS - I'll post the HID pics on another thread.
