A/C Help Please (I have searched and still need help)

I have a 1982 which i actually think is an 1983 4x4 SR5 long bed with all the bells a whistles. I am having trouble with the A/C on it, it use to work about a year ago and now it doesn't. I thought it might be the dash turn style switch but it seems ok, when the blowers are on and you turn that switch to engage the A/C it makes a relay click on the passenger side under the dash, my problem is i cant find the relay or what ever it might be. Can someone point me in the right direction please ?

if i manually engage the A/C on, it works fine and there is an appropriate amount of r134 in it, the wire that goes to the A/C pump is not getting any power when the switch is turned on, so i am trying to find were that wire goes without tearing into the harness to much.

There is a small black box up under the dash on the passanger side. You can get to it very easily, you can open that box from the right side(a plastic end cap snaps on and off) take that circuit board out and visually check for "cold" or broken solder joints....repair if necessary. If all looks good there it is most likely the switch on the dash that is not making good contact and keeping the compressor engaged. Hope that gives you a start.

The relay is actually on that circuit board if I remember correctly. To replace you can check the dealer ($$$) or try a Toyota specific wrecking yard for both the switch and the board. Keep us posted.

Ok so i wont be getting one from the Dealer cause they want $384.88 for that board. The indash switch is only $28 something, i will be looking in the junkyards for one this weekend. I also was wondering why i cant run a switch to a relay that manually engages the A/C clutch ? the same type of thing that runs most KC lights.

the amplifier board also kicks the idle up a bit to compensate for the increased load on the engine. I bypassed mine for a while and put up with it, but finally replaced the dashboard switch as well as the board and that fixed it. 92 22Re. If the board is not doing any of these things and the idle issue isn't a problem, than run the relay as you suggested.
