99 4 Runner Antennae

My retractable antennae isn't moving up and down fully. I lubbed the heck out of it and it is now a bit better, however when retracted it sticks up a couple of inches, and when extended, it seems like it should go up a couple of inches. I think the problem lies in the skinniest segment of the antenna. It still feels very springy.

Is this something wrong with the motor, or is my antenna still a little seized up?

Thanks for the help.

it's busted off inside the reel

yer antenna telescopic part, and internal zip line,
needs to be replaced with a new one. they are cheap
and straightforward to replace

The nylon cable breaks, which doesn't allow it to go up all the way. You can remove the antenna assembly, and repair it on the bench, or just repair it in the truck (which is a PITA!)

ya the only thing that is a pain

is getting to the antenna motor under the wheel well flap, dropping it
out of it's condom, opening the reel, and letting the busted chunk fall out.

put it all back in place, drop in a new antenna turn on the radio it will suck
your new antenna in, put on the final antenna bolt. done.

Thanks for the help. I'll have to go pick up a new antennae this week and figure this out.
