Exclamation swapping 22r carb onto 20r confusion

1980 4x4 20r, cali emissions

Ok, so i've been reading abunch of threads on this and i am still confused.

I want to swap a 22r carb onto my 20r motor. I have a 22r carb that i am going to rebuild. I also have the adapter plates for the manifold and air box.

1. Would I need to port the carb side of the 20r intake manifold to account for the larger primary and secondary on the 22r carb, or is it ok to leave that abrupt diameter step down?

2a. Will I need a new fuel pump to handle the increased cfm (70% more)?

2b. What do I do to resolve the differences between the electric 20r fuel pump and the mechanical 22r fuel pump?

3. What do i do with the linkage?

Thanks guys.

you don't need a new fuel pump.

What is the problem with the linkage?

Just out of curiosity, why not just install another 20r carb?

I am installing the 22r carb because im throwing on a header and a few other bits, and i felt like rebuilding a carb, but couldn't spare the vehicle down time. plus the 22r carb is more common. The weber is expensive, like 400 bucks, and im only into the 22r carb for 200, and it flows similar CFM.

I actually started the tear down and cleaning on it last night, but stripped a screw (which wont come out even with screw extractors). Also, the threaded rod that the airbox mounts to is damaged and i need to replace it, but i can't get it out. Are they reverse threaded into the body?

I agree, why deal with all the vacuum lines and ? Weber is just a better carb.

it just a regular carb, no computer. all you need is the 22r carb and an adapter plate. I got mine from lc engineering. then you have to port the intake manifold so it matches up with the primary and secondary on the 22r carb.
