refund for 3rd gen suspension recall?

My 96 4runner was one of the affected trucks that have been recalled due to the rear suspension problem. I have been getting notices every few months about it and I was wondering would I be able to get money or a credit? I say refund because as you can see in my sig I have already fixed the problem myself with my lift kit. I installed my lift kit before i got any notices because of course i wanted my truck higher but also because the ride quality was really bad as you can tell from the pic below. So anyone know if I can get anything for the suspension products I bought to fix toyota's problem?

I tried that line when I had my 97 4Runner. The two dealerships I talked said there was no way they could give me credit or a refund in place of the new coils. Maybe you will have better luck.

I am currently working with my attorney (my brother) on this. So far we haven't had any luck. I have called Toyota Corp and the Dealership numerous times. The best offer I got was that they would put their springs back on and then refund me for the pp springs I had to buy.

I had my brother send a letter to Toyota Corp and they denied any refunds. But we found a few holes in their letter, so I am not out for the count yet.

I'm curious, what years did this recall affect?

Will the dealer let you know (if I call them) if the recall was done on your truck if it was one of the affected models or do you have to research it yourself?

Haha with the resources you are working with it doesn't seem like I would be getting any money. How about you guys get a class action law suit going and you can add me to the list and I am sure some other people?? jk, best of luck to you with it though.

96-98 Safety issue for 2wd, ride issue for 4wd

Yes the dealer will know if you give them the VIN#. You could also call Toyota with the VIN # and they can check too.

One option was to check and see if there currently is a class action lawsuit and if there is, we may threaten to join it.

I think that we are going to first try writing another letter and see if that gets us anything.

I went the other day about this and they said, because I put a lift on the vehicle, they could no longer honor the recall, unless I lowered back to stock and came back in with it. Not worth it if you ask me. A refund would be really sweet, but I seriously doubt Toyota will do anything about it.

I don't think recall's can be denied if they're for safety reason, no matter what sort of shape your truck is in... but I'm not sure on this, might wanna contact the NHTSA.

I don't think you are going to get any sort of refund for this. If you did, it would only be maybe 100 or so $'s. not worth the hassle in my opinion. they wouldn't give you YOUR cost on the parts, you probably get their cost which is basically diddly. I'd just let it go and save your energy for mods and stuff. just my opinion though. I had mine recalled to but before I lifted so I still have these crappy stock recall replacements sitting in the garage.
