87 22r into an 81 pickup

hi there, im putting an 87 22r into my first gen. with plans of making it an re in the long run. Has anybody done this swap? if so obviously the cooling hoses are a bit different as to where they come off of the engine and go into the firewall. any advice on how to make it work? anything helps. Thanks!

Getting ready to do this swap soon myself, will be interested to see what you find. I was sure to save the crossmember out of the parts truck I got, I gotta figure the 22r with a 5 speed is gonna need a different cross member location than the 20r with a 4 speed. I also found that it is possible to remove the complete wiring harness out of a 2nd gen without cutting a singe wire (although its a hassle) and same thing with the second gen, so everything should be plug and play for me.

Take all the stuff off the 87, too.
Like vacuum lines and whatnot.
I know the older pickups have a TON of lines on the fenders, while the later 22R's dont.

I have done this a few times .. but quite a while ago ..

motor mounts are a bit different , you need to use the original ones . 9 wires if you choose to use `check engine lamp .. of course you`ll need to mount the computer . I drilled another hole right beside the original wire harness hole , for the EFI harness
