Anyone try putting an aluminum car topper boat on the roof of a 4runner with the factory rack?. I have the factory rack, but I was going to build system that goes in the trailer hitch and holds the rear of the boat, but the front would have to rest on the rack. My dad had something like this back in the 80's, I cant remember what it was called. Hows the handling with an aluminum boat on the roof with a 3-4" lift, (SS 1.07)

 

what size boat we talking? 14' valco? jon boat?

The boat is a 12' Aluminum V hull syle boat... I am building a utility trailer now, so no need for the car top style transport.
