I'm trying to get the stub shaft off of my front IFS since the axle seal is leaking. I read somewhere that there is supposed to be a C clip holding the axle in there but for the life of me I can seem to see it because of the lockrite that's in there.

Do I have to pull the locker to get the stub shaft out? Please tell me no.

That looks like it would work but I can't get a screwdriver in there. The Lockrite is in the way. I'll go back out and try that. I thought you had to remove the clip before it would come out.

Got it! Now I'm glad I did since I now know that there isn't an axle seal in there and the freaking third member has sand all in it....

FYI, you can often get those shafts out by using a block of wood and a BFH. Angle a length of 2x4 against the back side of the flange and smack it as best you can to unseat the spring clip holding the shaft in.

 

When I did my lockright I used the BFH technique, along with a big pry bar. Loads of fun.

You can get the axle seals at the dealer, I replaced both of mine when I had it apart.

 

I did something similar. I used a dead fall hammer and after two hits it pulled out. So easy.
