i just put a new carb from an 82 on my 81 pick up.

the 82 carb had some extra ports so i blocked them off with vacuum caps..

i cant find where this lil bugger goes..

any help please!!

i can start the truck how it is and it just takes off to about 4grand. and i have o control. i can rev it higher but not drop the idle.

I believe that goes to the bottom of the air cleaner to the Mixture Control Valve. (MCV). At least mine does. Well did, before I put a Weber on. I'm surprised it even idles with that big of a vacuum leak. The extra ports you blocked off look like it's the part of the HAC system, which you probably don't have.

You can see on the top of the photo there is an unattached hose. Part of the hose is off the photo on the bottom.

lol did't see that you were holding another line or a green circle, only say the huge open hole. sorry. thinking maybe that goes to a VSV in the manifold? Auto zone only has a vac diagram that goes back to 1984.

its all good. i think i might have figured out what it is. but still cannot figure out where the hell it goes..

by the haynes manual it says its some sort of throttle position sensor. thats controlled by a vacuum switchy.

i figured out the problem and it wasnt vacuum related. it was the idle stop adjustment screw holding the carb wide open. lol.
