darkassassin1986's 1990 Pickup Build-Up Thread

well, ive got a 1990 ext cab pickup with an extremely tired 22re in it. im in the process of building a 4.3 tbi motor for it. i've also got a solid axle thats gonna replace the ifs. im going to go with the 4 front 5 rear t/g kits or the suspension. im getting my swap adapters and headers from NWOR. im also going to recover a trd electric locker from a 97 taco that ws stolen and left wedged half way down a canyon wall thats fair game to anyone due to the recovery costs that insurance wouldnt pay the owners. i will post pics of these projects soon...

do your research on the NWOR parts...they don't have the best costumer service..but maybe you will have better luck

i've been reading that alot. i've talked to the folks tere a few times and they've been pretty nice to me and informative as well. im going to price all of my parts through them as well as AA. im trying to do this as cheap as possible. the parts house is going to bring my new rings wednsday. i've got my cylinders honed, new cam bearings installed, new cam, new lifters, bsicall everything for the rebuild except for the rings, they sent the wrong ones. i should have it long blocked by next week if my heads come back. than i'll be ordering my adapters. im still trying to find time to snap a few pics between work and sleep...

I've been extremely busy with work and fires. but i will be getting pictures up soon. i have a fire dept training saturday, but sunday is all mine! Im going to call and get prices from NWOR on the parts tomorrow, i already have AA's prices. after i get my prices together, i'll order all my parts! I'm going to get an aluminum radiator from summit racing and tig my own mounts on it to save money. Im getting really excited to get this new motor in and going!

well, i got my pistons installed and my heads cinched down on the 4.3. went to install the new crank and discovered i had no rod bearings in the kit, so im at another stand still until probably tuesday or wednesday. I'll be ordering the edelbrock intake, edelbrock valve covers, a new radiator, cooling fan and fan controller this week from summit. i'll also order my oil pan from nwor to clear my ifs. that is the only part im ordering from nwor, i've decided to get everything else from AA. everyone is right, customer svc is a+ over there.
