In the other header thread that's been floating around people keep saying something about a "tint" that the LCE headers get, maybe that's it?

what it looked like september

what it looks like now

I thought to myself there has to be something wrong here.. So last week i sent my exhaust back to LC Engineering in lake havasu city. They gave me a full hardware/gasket set as well as to be re-ceramic coated for free, very nice customer service but i must have got a "dud". I am dissapointed with LC engineering however we'll see how it goes when i get back exhaust back.

Zach, when you get it back, have someone weld up the slip joints. I just did mine last week. (Thanks Vital22re) I couldn't get them to seal up properly. the clamps just ovaled the larger side around the round side. I think I learned in kindergarten the importance of round peg/square hole.

LC Engineering exhaust nightmare

-INSTALLED IN SEPTEMBER-

All I can say is that I am very dissapointed and confused at the same time, as to how the rust could have progressed so quickly in this little amount of time especially considering the CERAMIC!! So what I did was called LCE and explained to John what was happening and he requested pictures. I emailed them some pictures and they went on to say that if I shipped my exhaust back to them they would sent it off to get re-ceramic coated. They will be shipping the exhaust back to me in the next week with a new hardware and gasket set. Again i am very dissapointed with LCE

oh ya and one for good measure

I really wouldn't call this a nightmare since they are making the corrections to the issue. I do agree that you have a lot of rust in a very short amount of time although I do not know if they salt the roads where you live. If they do then that may be a contributing factor, a large one.

why did you starta new thread?Anyway, thats not turning brown, thats rusting out. They should send you new pieces at their expense. Why are you out of a truck because of there failure?I would never do business with those shmeckels ever again. And band clamps will fix those leaks.Dont weld it will destoy the armor coat on your new header.

They salt the roads in the cape cod area, what did you expect?

My LC header still looks almost new after 5+ years

LC Engineering is one of the only companies that have proven themselves time and again to me. They are replacing all the parts and re-coating all the rusted ones at their cost. What more could you possibly ask for? Again, he lives in MASSACHUSETTS where they SALT THE ROAD. If you look at his pics, there isn't one part under his truck that isn't rusted pretty bad. I bet if you ask guys from Cali what their headers look like, they will be brand new looking.

salt or no salt if its going to rust like cheap metal why pay for ceramic coated? Might as well get a cheap "exhaust pro" setup.

yeah, its unfortunate but at least they're nice enough to re-coat it for me
-tim, I asked about getting the system replaced and LCE could't do that.

Yeah, ceramic coated seems like it should hold up to salt roads.. but i guess it depends on the factors.
