Fasten Belts dash light comes on, on the freeway!

Its not often I start one of these threads, most of my problems are solved by older threads.

Yesterday, went down to my parents house, close to 2 hours away. Drive was fine, absolutely no problems. On the way home, I got about 10 minutes down the highway when the seatbelt light comes on, then a couple seconds later the frickin buzzer goes off and won't quit! Of course I had my seatbelt on, so I slow down and pull of into the first service station I get to. As I turn the corner, the buzzer stops, but the light stays on. Turn the rig off for a half a minute, then fire it back up. The light is still on, but the buzzer is at least gone.

Made the whole trip fine, but the light never went off. The light would dima few times, but never turned off. As I got off the freeway, I tried undoing my belt. The light now goes off, but then the buzzer would sound! WTH?!?! Weird. So by the time I pull into my driveway and I am waiting for my garage door to go up, the light is now off. But it didn't go off while I was stoipped at stoplights 2 minutes earlier.

I haven't messed with anything recently (alarm was added a year ago with no problems) and nothing was spilled near the buckle. The closest thing I could come in the way of related threads were folks with their light going on, but never mentioned a buzzer as well. and I find its weird that wither the buzzer was on, or the light, but one time there was both.

Any other ideas besides cleaning out the switch in the belt buckle receptacle? Or ways to wire it so it stays off? I always wear my seatbelt so I am not too worried about bypassing it.

This also made me wonder, does anyone elses buzzer go off if you undo your belt while driving? (not that I am condoning that). I'm just saying.

Thought the buzzer was a lights and key reminder?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance, your responses will be logged for posterity.

Well that's bc you only drive it once a month!

Update. So I drove into work just now. The light came on when I started it up, like normal, then turned off when the motor fired up. Light didn't come on again, but the buzzer now runs if the seat belt is unplugged.

Weird.

Pull the seat, and lift the carpet up. Unplug the clip on the belt base. Done.

I think its too small for you. But thanks for the inquiry.

And I am not too worried about it, lets get the bumper finished first.

somewhat related.. today my door buzzer decided to stay on while i drive and doesn't turn off until the trucks off, and this started after i made a quick attempt to fix my belt buckle light from being on, the wires in the buckle have been severed since ive owned it, but all i did was spliced both wires together, which also didnt solve the problem even after i alternated wires, so I'm with ya...sorta ha

Well, I pulled the fuse once just to reset my check engine light (02 sensor code, unrelated). Anyways, it just went away. I didn't cut any wires, didn't clean any connections or switches. It magically vanished and I am back to having a rig that has everything working on it *knocks on wood*.

Hope your fix is as easy as mine. even if it's not, hope you figure it out.
