Hi Guys was hopein to get some help with my '90 sr5 V6 3.sl0w. vze

the 3/8 hose above the hose that connects to the pcv valve on the intake plentum. has oil in it alot of oil, also the little 3/8 hose that goes around the front of the timing cover has alot of oil in it it was connected to the air filter box wich was full of oil. any ideas of why this is happening? and number 2 my oil pressure is usally under 10 psi so was wondering if it maybe time for a new oil pump? thanks for any help!

 

oil pressure under 10psi? at idle or when you get on the throttle too?

 

while driving at around 60mph i may be wrong it could be as low as 6psi lol can remember

 

now i dont think my problem is blow by with the oil the air filer because the oild isnt coming from the pcv valve its comming out of the plentium i beleve?

 

another question the top part of the air filter box has some kinda sensor with wires conected to and if you turn it over it has a door flap. my question is what is this for and how do people get away with not useing it when they add cold air intakes? because if take it off the intake pipe the truck wont start.

 

it is the MAF (Mass Air Flow sensor) the trap door is spring loaded and inside it uses a resistor track to determine how much air is moving through it and the density of the air to help determine the proper air/fuel mix. with a cold air intake you incorporate it into the intake system with a filter adapter.

idk. it could be a number of problems causing oil in the plenum, what ever it is is certainly not good. 6psi oil pressure at 60mph is really not good and either your oil pressure sender is no good or your oil pump is toast. you don't want to drive around with a bad oil pump. my friend did that just two months ago and seized his motor.
