I have a 88 4x4 efi v6 3.ol, and the other day my clutch just went out and was sticking to the floor, my dad looked at it and saw some liquid like oil or something on the steel hose that runs from the master cylinder to the rubber hose that then connects to another steel line which then goes into my transmission. I took the hoses off today and one is dry rotted and i cant get that one fixed til friday, but i was wondering if i could bypass the rubber hose and just use a coupler from the steel hose from the cylinder to the other steel hose to the transmisson? can i bypass it?

 

if the rubber hose is leaking, you can swap it for another hose, but it should be rubber. if it is solid, the engine and body moves differently from each other and can break the line, reason for using flexible hoses

 

ok. well what would explain my pedal sticking to the floor and i have to reach down and lift it back up? just air in the line since its a hydrolic clutch?

Mine sticks to the floor but it's because the floor mat gets in the way. AGHHH!!

 

no mine sounds like a suction cup when i push it in.. and then i either have to pull it up with my foot or hand. then it pops back into place. its weird. i dont have the money to take it to the toyota guy over here in my hometown becuz he charges alot. becuz its hunting season everyones yotas are either breaking or he is doin tune ups for em.

 

The pedal should never stick to the floor cause there is a spring that pulls it back when you take your foot of it.... that spring is gone or broke. The rubber line needs to be replaced theres no messing around with "BS" rigging just replace it bleed system and be on your way.

 

oh ok, i didnt know there was a spring. is it suppose to be behind or above the pedal?

 

if your leaking clutch fluid (brake fluid) than your probably low on fluid. if you top it off, it should hold off for a few days till and leaks below the low mark. for now you can top it off, bleed it and see how it goes. if it is leaking really bad, than its best to just replace what is leaking

 

It hooks to the pedal on the front and hooks under the dash. Its hard to see and ya gotta get on your back to see it.

 

well when my pedal stuck and i made it home i checked the clutch reservoir to see how much fluid i had and it was full but i still didnt have a full pedal?

 

air in the lines could cause a poor pedal.

 

so i need to look for spring, put ne steel hose which i bought today, new rubber hose and fill clutch fluid and then bleed and i should be good to go

ok so i looked today and the spring is there. but there is a rubber spacer goin through my firewall and a rob that ties into clutch pedal and it goes out of this hole. what is this/ it looks as if it is getting stuck in there could that cause the sticking of the pedal?

 

the cause of the sticking pedal is from the leak. fix the leak and the pedal shouldnt stick. sounds like your spring is worn out too...

 

400000 miles on my 5 speed accord, my spring is original and i havent seen any springs fail yet. unless its common on these runners

 

im not sure if its common to wear out. mine did a couple of weeks ago... probably because it came off of a a standard hilux(junk yard) when I did my manual trans coversion
