its been friggin freezin last couple weeks in fl like 20 ish in the mornin and it takes while for the ole girl to warm up but once its warm (its got a 180* T-stat and stays around 160-170*) it still doesent have heat?, the heat was working just fine b4 this when it was a lil warmer 40 + and the truck was at 180*..any corelation to not exactly being at temp? or is it something els? i know theres some kind of valve dealy on the firewall right? but it doesent move and never has but hasnt been a prob b4....any ideas? i would REALLLLY like some

 

Check the heater temp regulator on the firewall in the engine bay, make sure the hot/cold slider in the dash is moving the little linkage on the bottom of the regulator.

the regulator is the little black box on the right heater inlet pipe a little up from where it goes into the fire wall.

 

check your heater core. could be plugged like one of my other truck's was. and make sure it is getting coolant as well. no heat without that!

 

its full of collant, good to go there, the regulator u speak of the hot/cold slider doesent move the linkage, and i cant move it by hand or with pliers....im guessing this would be to blame for a little bit of my problem, any ideas on how to free it without breaking it?

 

Sounds like it's already broken, so there's probably no good way to move it except to force it.

 

hermmmm, you think if i remove it, it would be ok? instead of the 2 rubber hoses going into it i can get a plastic connector or somthin to splice it, but would it run heat all the time? or u just wont have any control on how hot it is? just when i put it over there its hot..?

 

Take the hose off both sides of the regulator and use a screwdriver and just open wide open, basically like having the slider in the dash on full heat. Thats what did on my old white truck, also those hose pipes could be clogged also. It only takes about 10 minutes to do all this too.

 

10 fer just didint know of any adverse affects like too much cooling or something stupid, thanks ill get er fixed up here n a sec, no heat sucks...

 

Why in the hell do you need heat in Florida anyways?

 

They not used to 40 degree heat in January haha. I just bypassed my heater control valve too, stopped my gurgling issue in the heater core, but still kinda luke warm. I think thats because I had to put hole in the thermo to stop the temperature overshoot though. Might put a 190 thermo in it to see if that helps in mine.
