what kind of fender flares to use with 37" tires?

ok so that is my truck as my avitar its 1990 sas and i am running 37" toyo's. right before i left for iraq i got a ticket for "no fender flares or mud flaps" i am heading home here shortly and need to get some fender flares that will cover my tire either 2 or 3" flare but my bed has all ready been cut to fit the tires at full stuff.

so what i am wondering is what everyone else is running for fender flares who have 37" or bigger tires because i am planning on going to 40's or 42's. i still drive it on the road probably more then i should and it also has to look good because i am a Fire fighter on the civlian side and i run fire fighter plates.

your help will be apreciated

I have the bushwacker flares(called cutout fender flares), but no cutting is required,,,, it is also a 90, sas, but with 35x12.50 tires for now,,,,the flares have been on for about eight years and have held up good,,, if you get them don't tighten them up tight or it will crack them,,,, I did mine and figured they wouldnt last, but so far so good,,,, ,,,,,Hope this helps

anyways um idk if you got what you are askin but my dad has 3 in bushwacker fender flares and is running 35x14.5s ALSO in case you didnt know of someone didnt say you legally have to have mud flaps that are no hight then 10 inches from the ground to hte bottom of the flap. My buddy just got pulled over for the same thing bout a month ago in his 84 lol.

I run 37's and no flares (HELLL NO!!!!)

i do run removeable rear mudflaps tho, best shot i got of em.

And WA state trooper told me the mudflap only has to be down to the axle. She didnt specify a height and i dont recall reading about any specific height requirements when i researched the laws. Only for bumpers and headlights i saw actual inches from the ground.

tires dont stick out enough for most cops to care. I've been harassed before when i had other setups. But never a ticket. Just be nice they usually let ya off

eh found one more with the flaps on just no rear bumper yet

forgot i had this one

what about some cheap landscaping edging stuff that i see people use. It may not look the best but Bushwacker fender flares come at a price of over $400 a set.

Or maybe this stuff... http://www.truckcustomizers.com/prod...er-flares.html

NWwheelin09: thank you i really appreciare your support. Ft.drum is a great place to be stationed at. i am national guard but i have spent more time active duty then i have with the national guard. i looked into the rules for big 4x4s in OR, and all i found were regulations for bumpers and head lights.

drew303: thanks for the pics man i really like your truck. if i was running 12.50 instead of the 14.50s i d probably be ok but but i have like 3 or 4 inches hangin out side the fender wells. the cop that pulled me over had some kind of issue with me idk exactly what it was but he made it clear that he didnt like me. i am always polite with the cops, becasue i know they have a job to do. and there are many other things on my truck that are not street legal so i think i got off on the better side of the deal.

Im probably gonna jinx myself by saying this, but i run 35's with no mud flaps or fender flares, also havn't had a rear bumper since june, never been pulled over for any of it.

But my friend got the mud flap/fender flare ticket in his ranger with 31's. The cops around here are generally pretty laid back, i guess he cuaght one on a bad day...

your welcome ffryo, um what were the regs for bumpers? i dont recal the bumpers having to be messed with then again i never seen any radical bumpers hahah, and well i dont think its in the books i think its just a law they have thats not specific cuz i have had 3 people my buddy denny my buddy derek with a 85 and my uncle who has a ranger lifted they all were pulled over at some point for mud flaps and how far the tires stick out. BUT i havent heard any thing lately bout the tire stickin out of the fender they prob dont care much bout that its prob more or less bout the mud flapps lol

i think your right, i think it was the headlights had to be below 72" and the top of the cab had to be below 14' which is just crazy anyway. i got the ticket in pendelton OR. on I-84 headed west. the guy prob just knew i wasnt from there and knew i d pay the ticket because of the same reason. i drove it for 2 or 3 more weeks after that in my town and never heard anything from the cops and they re building is connected to where i work.
