Toyota_mike's 1985 Pickup Build-Up Thread
Well figure I would post my first Toyota. I own a few now but this is the first and decently rare. It's a 1985 Toyota 4X4 SR5 pickup. First year of the 22RE in the trucks and last year of the solid axle front suspension. Made famous by the awesomeness that is the Back to the Future Trilogy. So I built upon that image and did a BTTF theme to my wheeler. I even went as far as hiding the winch behind the bumper to maintain the look.
So here's a picture history of it.
Here's the earliest picture I have. I did a slight lift and tires by that time.

Original motor

Wheeling for the first time

Then I replaced more body panels

Then I got tired of being a messed up 2 tone. Bed liner anyone?

Then I got me a roll bar like the movie truck

Add some cheap lights because this is a wheeler and they will get broke and presto. The theme is almost complete
Mine

Real one

Then I spun a rod bearing and toasted the crank coming back from PSTOF 3.

Yay rebuilt motor. I did the rebuild.

Then off to test it

Showing at PSTOF 4

Won best Old school 4x4

So engine specs are, Ported head, 268 Crawler cam, 5 angle valve grind with swirl polished valves, TRD header, MSD wires, Custom intake, LCEngineering cap and rotor, Crane Hi-6 ignition, and metal backed timing chain guides.
To add to the theme I now have the color changing hat from the 2nd movie, Actual Japanese models of the 1st and 3rd movie Delorean, Signed mini movie poster, 1 replica OUTATIME license plate, 1 Universal studios gift store license plate, a future bar code license plate, and I blare the sound track at car shows. At one of the last shows this guy said I officially have a hater so thats a first for me lol.

I'm pretty happy with it as is right now. Maybe go a little more flexy when I can afford crossover steering but I'm selling the IFS box I got for it, so you know how far away that's going to be lol

Hey Mike, AWESOME truck man. Its funny that my 85 looks almost identical to yours before you started working on it, and my plans are making it into looking like Marty McFly's toyota haha. Did you buy it with the front grille guard already on or did you buy it? I've been looking for that exact one for forever and cant find it. I've only found some that are for jeeps.
HELP!! lol

i was looking at your pictures and noticed the sail vent windows. I take it this isnt an sr5 model right? Cause i believe the sr5 had power windows which didnt have sail vents. Only manual roll ups. If it is an sr5, did you put the vents on there?? I want to put the vents on mine except mine is an sr5 which has power windows. So i was justy wondering if you did that. Thanks.

If you dont mind me asking, Where did you find your smittybuilt bumpers/rollbar? I'm Trying to do the same but have come up with nothing, they have been discontinued. So I'm guessing a local Junkyard? any help would be great. Other than that
