02 sensor replacement - 01 TACO Dbl Cab

I got busy (a little lazy too) and took my 2001 Dbl Cab in to have my Magnaflow muffler reinstalled, an hour or so job. 3 days later when I get the truck back I get going down the road and about a mile I throw a P0141.

Of course the installer tells me anytime you mess with the 02 you risk this happening however since they clamped rather then welded it I am not sure why the had to remove it and the pipe.

Anyway, my question is: The culprit is the sensor AFTER the CAT. Taking a quick look in the lot I see the wires go up into the body through a grommet in the underside body. Is the plig right on the other side of that grommet? Do I remove the whole grommet or just work the wires through it in place.

Lesson learned; whenever possible, DO IT YOURSELF?

Not sure about the Taco, but on my 99 4Runner there is a plug about a foot up from the sensor. I ordered one and should be replacing mine in the next few days. I don't think you should have to go all the way into the interior to replace it.

On the 01 Taco ext-cab I had the plug to the rear sensor is under the carpet. IIRC I just removed the passinger side door sill trim and lifted up the carpet and found it. Can't remember if I removed the grommet or just worked the plug through it.

Thanks. The part hadn't come in yet so wasn't sure how long the pigtail would be, Was trying to decide if I was going to do it or insist they pay for me to have someone else do it after my experience.

I think it will be the former so I know it is done right.
