99 5vz-fe 4runner sr5 running lean

i have a 99 sr5 4runner. I just put a new engine in the vehicle a few weeks ago and i am registering a 02 bank 1 threshold low (lean code). Any thoughts? fyi this problem has been occuring even before i installed the new engine.

Look to the fuel delivery system for problems. That includes the MAF because it measures the amount of air coming in so the ECU can put in the correct amount of fuel to mix with it. If the MAF info is bad the computer has garbage in, and GIGO.

Also look for vac leaks down stream of the MAF.
