3rd brake light getting no power? please help me

my 3rd brake light stopped working about 6 months ago and i changed the bulb but it never worked again. i figured id fix it today so i started by removing the bulb and having someone push on the brake pedal.

i checked the plug terminals with a multi meter. no power....and then i removed the plug and checked the connector terminals again and still no power.

Is there a fuse or something controlling this light. i checked the fuses and none were blown

i really want that light to work again and i am stumped

ANY IDEAS?

It runs off the same fuse as the other brake lights, so that can't be it. I would suspect a broken wire or bad ground on the light.
Which vehicle btw

You most likely have broken wires going from the hatch to the body of the truck. Probably broken inside the black rubber boot.
