First off, I'd just like to say I'm a new member here and this is my first post, so I guess this is kind of my introduction thread in a way.

I need your guys' opinion on something. My '98 4Runner SR5 4x4 is completely stock at the moment, it was passed on to me a year and a half ago, and I've done nothing to it, until now. I'm planning within the next few weeks to get the 'Ultimate lift kit' from Toytec lifts (link below). I am also planning on getting new tires for my truck. The thing is, their forums said they recommend 32x11.50x15 tires, but an email I received from one of their employees told me "Most are using a 285 or a 33". The current wheels I have on my truck are stock 16"x7" (link below). Now the tires I have been looking at purchasing are the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM2s (link below for specs). I found the LT285/75R16/E, which are listed as 33.1" overall diameter, but the rim width range is listed at 7.5-9", which is a bummer considering the wheels I have now are 7" in width. Now does this mean if I want to get these tires I'm going to have to get new wheels? The 2nd option I found was the LT265/75R16/E which list a 7-8" in rim width, but those are 31.9", which isn't really a huge deal, but if I'm buying new tires, I want the ones I think will look best. Or the LT235/85R16/E with 6-7.5" at 32" diameter. That's all for the 16" in wheel size. So my main question here is, what would you guys do if you were in my situation? Also, what would tires like these look like on the 16" wheels I have, would it look silly at all? I'm not the biggest wiz on tire/wheel knowledge, so I'm sure a lot of you can help me out. I really want to get the 33.1" tires but I don't want to spend another couple hundred bucks on new wheels. Thank you!

im running stock wheels with 285s got the tires from les schwab and had no problem with mounting them on 16x7 wheels id recommend some 1/4'' wheel spacers up front from wheelers off road for a little more a arm clearance

 

o and that lift kit dont include the needed rear adjustable pan hard bar to center the axle can get that from sonoransteel

 

What kind of 285s do you have on there?

Yeah, is that rear trac bar required if I buy that kit? Or is it just an extra (how much difference does it make if it isn't)? Because I don't see why they wouldn't mention it at all on their site.

Oh, I see. Do a lot of people use their stock wheels with larger tires here? I've seen a few members but wouldn't mind seeing pictures of any more.

 

i personally like the look of the stock 5 spokes but yes quiet a few use stock wheels and use the money saved else where

 

I know, and our wheels differ, but I think yours looks awesome! I love the black and the metallic looking blue, and in my opinion, I think a little tintage of the windows would look awesome. But yeah, I think I want to get those 16's on wheelersoffroad, then sell my current ones for (which are pretty darn clean by the way) some extra money in the end.

Yes. I've been thinking and looking at reviews and I might go with the Hankook Dynapro MT RT03 tires, I can get them cheap through work and it sounds like these (over the KM2's) would be better considering I'd be driving on the street more than driving off the street. Just putting those on the 16's on wheelersoffroad also.
