Slooow warm up.

Slooow warm up.
My stock 22re truck takes at least twice as long as my brothers stock 22re truck. It seriously took 30-45 minutes to fully heat up in 1st gear.
Anyway, it has a napa thermostat in it. I'm thinking I need to switch it out to the dual-style ones??? Not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Trevor

2nd that, sounds like your napa thermostat is a fail safe that failed in the open position. Saw that once before on a friends tracker. At least it did not fail closed and cause an overheat like mine. Engine Builder here I come!.... when i have the money

Why would the dual stage ones make it warm-up faster? People buy the dual stage ones to help prevent the temp spike (almost to red) then normal temp while warming up that happens with failing T-stats. Buy a 190-195* OEM one.

I do not know about the dual stage ones. I am saying I think he has a fail safe thermostat. The last thermostat I bought was supposed to fail in the open position. When it did fail, we pulled it out and it was wide open. With the thermostat wide open it takes FOREVER to heat up because the water is constantly circulating.

I've run with a stuck open t-stat before...and with none at all. It never warmed up then.
But now my problem is different...it takes forever to get hot....but climbs and climbs almost to the red then goes down to normal and stays in the same spot.

I went to a dealer by my house and they didn't have any dual stages in stock nor did they know anything about it.
So, I just bought a new OEM 190-195* and it seems to work fine.
my truck fluctuates between 1/4 and 1/2 on the temp gauge

I just picked up the dual stage thermostat that I ordered because my truck still ran warm with the stock one. It stays pegged at 1/4 on the temp gauge while running with no heat or heat blasting.
Definitely get the toyota dual stage thermostat you won't be disapointed!
