still overcooling! 22re

I rebuilt my motor this summer and it still doesn't warm up. To give you guys some specs, 22re completley rebuilt. 268 rv cam full header and exhaust, cold air intake, new ported and polished head with stiffer springs, msd wires and ngk plugs. Everything is new! T-stat is 190 deg. and the motor gets to about 200 deg. at the most. First off the motor runs great and has a lot of pep, no complaints there. my heater doesn't get hot but warms up a little if any as the motor warms up. the gauge in the cab never reads above the line on the left. It takes a long time for the motor to warm up. the cooling system is all new as well and worked before the new motor. the water pump is my first bet since it is making a bit of high pitched noise at idle and through the rpm range. I was thinking that a faulty water pump would make the engine over heat but this is not the case. Can a water pump be over active and cause the motor to never warm up? The t-stat has been replaced twice and seems to work, although i haven't tested it properly by boiling it yet. Could it be the t-stat? I'm lost and have been trying to track this down for a few months any help would be greatly appriciated. how can i get this motor to warm up? I also changed the fan clutch since my old one was still around. the motor seems to run perfect if it wasn't for the overcooling issue.

yeah i was writing a response but then i thought i may be way off....but here it goes anyway...

when i drove without my t-stat in , it ran the same way as you describe yours. so i would think a stuck open t-stat would be the same. Upside down??? is that possible and would it have the same symptoms ??? No clue.

the water pump.......pumps water...as far as i know it has no function other that that. it has an impeller turned by a belt to circulate the coolant. a non-functioning one would cause the water to sit still and i don't think there could be such a thing as an over-functioning one. (again, i'm new to this so take everything i say with some consideration please....i'm just trying to make sense of it all). however the noise you are hearing could be from failing bearings or maybe even an over-tight belt (i would assume)

i will tell you that when my headgasket 1st failed years ago , i had no heat...not sure exactly why and that's several years ago, but i'm sure a HUGE part was was start-it-up-drive-away-put-gas-in-it attitude and neglected the whole thing and it taught me a hard lesson which i still neglected to pay attention to until the past several months..

in my case it was probably becaus all my coolant was going out my tailpipe or something like that.

so for you, i would say, trouble-shoot and rule-out what you can.

Maybe you have a clogged line or clogged heater core.

the stock gauges are junk if you run it and touch the houses and there hot but you still have no heat check the little cable thing on the firewall for the heater core mine are broke and i have to move the valve by hand but youll see it its on a coolant line and has a wire cable going to it id check that
