Bilstein 5125 shocks w/ 99 coils??? Doable?

So I researched all the ways to lift the front of my 2002 Runner. I'm looking to get 2.5" to match the OME coils in the rear.

I put in some daystar spacers up front that I 'm not happy with. Turns out that my front struts need replacing also.

I recently found some 'tall' '99 coils from a member here and I want to run them with the Bilstein 5125 shocks to get my desired lift. Now I'm hearing everyone say that they drive like ass on a 4runner on stock coils? Is there a difference in the 5100 and 5125?

Anyone here running a similar setup that can chime in??

Hey,
are those lift shocks with adjustable height? I'm also trying to get a lift out of the front end to match the 2.5" rear coils.

Cheers!

I have the 906 OME springs in the rear of my truck with the OME shocks and it rides great. I would go all OME if I were you unless you just want the Billies for extended travel.

I'm running 890s in back of a '96 with the yellow Land Cruiser Bilstein (B461478) and a TRD Tundra blue/yellow swap in front on the adjustable Billies 5100 (BE5-6929-HO) and an All-Pro 1-inch spacer. It's pretty level, and I trail the living crap out of this thing. I can haul a bit of weight in back and there's no problem. The back axle articulates great, and the fronts stuff like champs.

You can read about the whole install and all the thoughts that went into it on off-road.com:

STICK to the story

Interested in the 5125 answer myself. Would you use the Landcruiser shock or the 4runner shock with the 890s?

Talking with Steve at Sonoransteel.com, I believe that the BEST match up is that of a Tundra 4x4 coil and custom valved 5125 Bilstein shock. I'm leaning that way for sure.

As for the rear, I couldn't be happier with my Fj80 Landcruiser coils and OME landcruiser shocks

Jwaldz, what are the brass hangers on the top of your rear shocks? Is that sturdy for the rear end? And where did you get your gear?

Doubt those are actually brass Probably hardened steel. They are adapters to make the eye/eye bilstein shocks work with the rear of our 4runners which have a stud/eye configuration.

It is an adapter for the top shock mount type used on 3rd gen 4runners. You can see it better on toytec's site. I assume this same shock can be used on a tacoma if you remove the adapter.

yea, it's not brass.. I got everything on toytec.com they have great stuff. I have seen a lot of mixed reviews on the ome vs bilstein shocks but I wanted to give the bilsteins a shot so I got the extended 5125's and the adjustable 5100's. I can't wait to test out the travel of these things.

How about the Nitro charger LC shocks (OME N71E replacement) and the 890 coils for the rear? Maybe too stiff?
