Low oil pressure when warm

I have a 94 4runner (3vze) and it idle fine when cold but as soon as it gets warm the oil pressure drops and it starts to idle rough. It also aquires a small tick once it warms up. What could this be?!?!

Well it could be bad timing i would check that first. Low oil pressure at idle is normal for the most part ,your motor is not pushing the oil cause it's at idle. If your oil pressure is always low then i'd be worried.

Oil pressur is fine when it is cold and so is the idle but when it gets warm both of them drop.

Are you going off of your stock gauge?

If so, take those readings with a grain of salt. Mine shows decent pressure when cold but drops to 0 when warm.

always has...

i rebuilt my 3vz and the pressure is fine but when it gets operating temp, it goes to zero(this is a new pump and bearings). Funny(or not funny) thing is that i tried it on a manual gauge and it really drops to zero! I just start it up and drive around the block but ill tell you when it actually dies after i convert it to standard and really drive it. good luck with yours, hopefully its easy fix like a wrong gauge reading.
