anyone one with a 2nd gen 4runner manual trans?
Can anyone show me a pic of the pedal setup in a 2ndgen manual trans 4runner? I'm thinking of swapping in a 3.4l and I've heard it's easier/est to also swap in a mantran. But space is a big consideration for me since I wear size 17 shoes.

2nd Gen
Can't help you on the pedal placement since mine is an auto also. I would guess that the bracketry is already there for the extra pedal, not sure though. Typically alot cheaper for the manufacturers to make 'em all the same. Since options are few for real performance gains for the 3.0 V6, can you share what the cost of such a swap would be? Do you need basically everything out of the donor engine compartment + harnesses + ECU? Are the Tacoma and 4Runner powertrain the same?
Corey had told me that he heard the TRD kit for the 3.0 Toyota Solara might be able to be made to fit (with alterations and a hood scoop for clearance) on the 2nd Gen. Those kits are $3,900 + I'm sure more for misc. parts to make it work. Then you still have the auto tranny...

yeah, atleast the bracket bolt holes should be there if not the brackets. I haven't priced anything and this is a future mod maybe in the next 6 months. but I'm a junkyard scavenger and I can search around and wait for a donor to show up at picknpull and jump on it when I find one. they sell the engine and tranny for about 130-150 each. as far as the ecu&harness I think that the 3.0l harness works with some alterations, I'll have to double check on that. I'm still just thinking about waiting till I finish paying it off and sell it to finance a gen1. that's what I wanted in the first place but no one would finance me. swap in a 4.3 vortech with some headwork with a nv35or3550, and I have an axle design that I got from an rc truck that I's like to try out kindof like a portal but cheaper and simpler.
As far as the solara, I know it's a different model engine 1mz-fe which puts out about 200hp 214 ftlbs that would be kick ass but I have a feeling a swap might be a bit difficult. I'll keep you up to date the more I find out. that and I prefer a mantran. I just like the control and the compbraking
