I have a simple question thats going to result in many people telling me to use the search bar. I have seen a couple people ask this question when searching but no one had a clear answer.
I have a 96 4runner with coils that need replacing. I don't have the coin to get a lift for it so I want to do the next best thing and put coils from a 99 in it. The question is with the added height of the 99 coils, can I still use the stock shocks from the 96? I just replaced the shocks 10k ago and don't feel like replacing a perfectly good set
Also does anyone have after market 16x8 rims on a stock 4runner set up or does is look stupid without a lift?

 

You can use stock shocks with those coils.

The clear answer is that if you search you will find that it is not required however it is a good idea. If you put springs in your vehicle that are taller than what is already there then you will be stressing your shocks by making them work outside of there intended stroke. When you do this is does shorten life. That said if it is not a lot of lift then it wont affect the shocks as much.
