hmm, ok this morning i go out and the truck won't start, i try jumping it off the wife's car, and no good. still just clicks. got ahold of a buddy, and his jeep jumped it in about 30 seconds. drove to work, and when i turned the key from on to acc everything died. period. everything turned off, the radio, lights everything. but my cb which is wired straight to the battery still turns on with no issues. is there a relay in the steering column i should look at? or a fuse somewhere? pretty sure the batterys isn't bad, since the cb will still turn on, but might end up swapping it out with the extra in the toolbox.

84 4x4 single cab 22r. has a new startera and the ignition lock piece in steering column.

 

Sounds like a simple bad connection to me. Check the tightness of both battery post and the wire at the starter.
