Noobie Help!

Hey Guys,

I got a few noob questions if you don't mind helpin me out. First off, I own a 2002 4runner with 57,000 miles on it. V6, pretty much everything is stock.

1) I was looking at the DRL mod in the write up section, and they had suggested that i put the DRL on a switch. The switch used was a window lockout switch. I know i should call the dealer to get this switch, but does the switch come with the male/female adapter used to connect the circut to the switch?

2) I want to add two center installed headlights mounted infront of the grill. I have read that many people use hella 500's. Any suggestions of another pair of good lights.

3) I was looking at installing an oil pressure gauge & a volt guage in a drive pod mounted on the A-pillar. After reading that the pod is held in with two plastic pins, i was wondering if the pod is really that stable when attached to the a-pillar. I do not want it to shift or look cheap.

I appreciate the time guy's. I'm really into trying to learn some of the basic's here and eventually branch out into performance mods.

Moved to the Newbie Tech Section.

My biggest, first suggestion is to search the forum for these questions.
You can use the Advanced Search feature to narrow your search to specific areas of the forum or just search the entire board.

As far as light recommendations, I would say Hella 500's or Hella FF75's.
I have no experience with the DRL mod or the A-pillar gauge pod so I will leave that to searching and others' responses.

Good luck,

Fink

Lots of guys running a Supercharger have guages in their pillar but I think it's a replacement pillar with the guage installed. Can't beat the Hella 500's for the price and light output.

Thanks guys so far!

I was under the impression that the gaugepod fit over the exsisting trim and was held in with two plastic pins. If thats the case, is it really that stable? im worried about taking a stray bounce and the the gauge pod ending up in my lap.

anyone know about the first question?

Edit: I took a look at Hella 500's vs. Hella FF 75.

which do you think is better in the brightness and fullness department?

Every gauge pod i have seen has been held on with trim screws. If you could post up a link of which pod you are looking at, that would be helpful.

Hella 500's are cheaper and are a bigger light.
Hella FF's are smaller, more sleeker looking and more expensive.

From what I could tell there was no noticeable difference in the light output.
Both are available in fog or driving.

@Fink

I think im going to go with the 500's. I like the bigger light, and worst comes to worst i could just add more

@group

So im looking at the guage pob by Lotek. Its on this page:http://www.gaugepods.com/toyota_t.html.

*Need to scroll down to two gauge pod for 4runner 2002*

Anyway, the issue being is i know trim screws are holding it in place, but does the pod fit snuggly over the trim piece or does it have alot of lateral movement to it? I dont want it to fall off or look crappy.
