I would be interested to hear from folks who swapped out ADD fixed hubs for Aisin manual hubs. Did that mod help your gas mileage at all? If so, how much of an improvement did you see?
I have an automatic transmission, I'd really like to hear from people who have an auto trans and did the swap.
I'm thinking of installing manual hubs, trying to figure if it would be worth the effort. All the hub swap threads here got me thinking about it.

 

No. Its just better in all other ways though. Less wear on the cv joints, 2wd Low is an option aswell with manual hubs.

 

I challenge ANYONE who says they improved their mileage to post up their mileage from 5 tanks with the hubs locked and 5 with them unlocked and I'll prove to you statistically it didn't ACTUALLY make a difference.

I did it to have more options to get off the trail.

 

There are many theories on wether the Manual Hub swap will increase your MPG's. Some say yes, some say no, other say who cares.

I am the 3rd. Who cares. Swapping out for manual hubs for MPG gains is silly, unless you are gaining 3+ MPG's, its not worth the swap. However, the reduced wear and ability to unlock the hubs brings the value back into the swap. So, if all you want is better gas mileage, you are going to be sorely disappointed. If you are looking at the overall package, its a good swap.

 

Worth it to swap. Yep for lots of other benefits but mpg won't be one of them.

 

I've run them locked, in 2WD for hundreds of kms and unlocked in 2WD for hundreds of kms...and noticed exactly no difference in mileage.

It's a wear and tear savings.

 

i hear less drivetrain noise, but still get the same mileage to the point where i just dont worry about mileage. Pud a piece of black tape over your odometer and just fill it up when it gets empty. I've been feeling good about my truck ever since.

Oh, 2 low is good for some things, like when you dont need 4 just some lower gearing..

Yep, I reckon I'm just another poor slob with a 3.0 grovelling for any shred of performance gain. It seems like it would be worth the swap to save wear and tear on the front end; especially since I just R&Red the axle shafts. That wasn't a lot of fun.

 

Its an easy swap and will save your parts that have been mentioned from wearing sooner.

I recommend 100% as it is also inexpensive to complete as well.

Also, I had never messed with manual hubs before and the swap forced me to learn what they are all about. If I get into problems on a trail I could R&R the on the trail.....and carry the tools needed to do it as well.

Makes no measurable difference in mpg. ADD (what you have from factory) already takes care of most of the driveline drag.
