1999 4Runner Idle Question

Howdy. This is my first post. What is average idle supposed to be for a 3rd generation 4Runner. Mine is a 99 Limited 4WD? Currently it's idling at roughly 1500-2000 RPM's. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!

Normal idle is 700+/-50 rpm.
In gear mine tends to be closer to 600 and in park at 700.
When is your idle at 1500-200rpm. Is it after the engine has reached operating temperature?

my wife's 2000 4runner idles a bit above 1500 rpm after starting it.

after warming up for bit - read a couple of minutes if not longer - it starts to come down.

after driving around a bit and throughout the day the idle is under 1000 rpm... probably around the 750-800 rpm area.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, its after I reach normal operating temperature. It does it when I'm at a red light or going through a drive thru. It does dip down a little when I'm in park (1200rpm). It's weird because I had a 99 SR5 that never did that. I'm thinking I just need to get the idle adjusted.

Idle cannot really be adjusted on these engines. Basically the idle will be set and affected by other inputs.
Things for you to check would be:
-too tight of a throttle cable,
-Clean your IAC
-Check your TPS
-Clean your MAF
