For those who have removed running boards and have front mud guards

I just ordered the front mud guards so I can take off my running boards but my question is for those who have done this a while ago, how is your paint? Do the front mud flaps work well enough to keep your paint from getting chipped or your doors dented?

It's not too bad, but the gravel roads and sand have shown their effect. When I get rock sliders though, I'm gonna put some inserts in between them; I hear that helps.
