Wheel spacer installation dilemma: Loctite or no Loctite

I recently found a smoking deal on a set of 1.5" wheel spacers. My plan is to get some 305's this fall and they just wouldn't clear the upper a's without the spacers and I'm too cheap to buy new wheels (not to mention that I love the 5 stars). My dilemma is that I've heard conflicting ways to install them. Some people recommend using red or blue Loctite and others recommend not using it at all. They're going on tonight, so let me know what your thoughts are.

I put RED Loc tite on mine, torque to 100 ft lbs and forget about them. If you have to take them off just get a cheater bar.

A local mechanic said that the adapters should be re-torqued in about 100 miles and said that loctite would make doing so more difficult (obviously). Everything I've read on the web has said to use loctite. I have some on hand and was planning to use it anyway, but just wanted to be 100% sure.

If you do this, you shouldn't need to re-torque them. Best of luck.

I don't know about the laws in Iowa but here in PA a vehicle will not pass state inspection with wheel spacers over 1/4'' . Locktite might make it more of a PITA to take them off once a year. But its only once a year.... Just something to think about before your install.

One of the many benefits of living in Iowa is that we don't have annual vehicle inspections...yet!

I use blue locktite on mine...Remember if you have to do anything to the front hub you'll have to remove them.

I have blue loctite on hand too, but the consensus seems to be to use the red. I'm hoping an impact would break the red loose if they ever needed to be removed.

Red loctite and torque to 100 ft lbs. No need to retorque as that is what the loctite is for in the first place.

Impact or cheater bar will take the red right off no problem.

Green loctite is the weld on crap IIRC.

Quit worrying and use the red, just a few drops will suffice.

Thanks for all of your feedback. Red loctite and torque to 100 pounds it is! Pictures to follow shortly.

I would re-torque exhaust manifold studs after a few drives due to the heat cycles, but I wouldn't worry about wheel studs.
