tranny and dual t-case seem really hot

Hello i was driving home last night from a white water kayaking trip ..when i noticed my temp gauge climbing slowly up a fairly large hill (as i live in the rockys) and last summer i removed all the carpet in my truck but one thing i never noticed before is the floor is really really hot where the tranny hump is...is this normal could the motor heating up have anything to do with it ...its a 91 pickup with a 22re with a 261 crawler cam in it and a dual t-case but i just put the dual t's in before winter so it was much colder out and never noticed before .....sorry for the long post ....any help would be great

Your exahaust runs right under the floor boards. Hot exhaust=hot floor boards.

Yes, a lot of heat in there, mine get hot as well. Synthetic oil will help reduce the temps somewhat.

Yep, they get real hot period. You just don't notice it with the tranny tunnel sealed and the carpet down.
