I need to install a light into the heat control panel on my 1984 toyota pickup

I need to install a light into the heat control panel on my 1984 toyota pickup. My problem is that none of the auto parts store can pull up any info on the bulb, I called Toyota themselves Several of them actually none of them can even come up with a number. I would like some help with this matter I got the truck without a light even in the unit, I know that it is similat to the 194 dash light just about half the size, the only ones I can find seem to be about 2 times to long the clear plastic light deflector doesn't install over it. Does anyone have a number for the bulb? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Very Much!!!

Yes that would be the one, their is only the one bulb for the whole assembly it sits right behind the clear plastic light deflector so the bulb has to be short?

Thank You for any help that can be provided.

Yup there called T5 bulbs. Heres one i found on eBay. I reccomend getting the round one like i showed you in the link instead of these. If you click on the second link the picture shows a couple of bulbs on the ruler. You want to look for that last bulb that is rounded and not get the first ones because they are to long. If you need any more help just let me know.

Well i just reread that you have an older truck. The bulb i showed you is for 89-95 trucks. If I'm not mistaken it should fit your truck. It fit mine and i have a 92. Do you have a bulb to use as a reference or was there no bulb in it initially?

I have a 1984 toyota, as I had stated in my initial thread I do not have the bulb, if I did I would be able to use it for reference I know this. I thought I had stated no bulb in when purchased truck if I didn't Sorry. But no there is no bulb that I can use for reference. Every place that I have searched shows the bulb for the 1992 Toyota is almost twice as long as the one for the 1984. Yes the truck that I have is a 1984 model not any newer.

did you just pop the front cover off to get the the bulb housing? or did you have to go around behind the dash with all the heater wires and pull the whole thing out? thanks

Read the page I posted above:

Speaking of the heater control lamp, mine was also burned out. To get to that gem, you simply have to slide the heater controls to the middle, pull the knobs off and then pry out the plastic face with a small screw driver. The mini lamp socket is behind the face. I found it is not very well supported from the back and when I pushed in the bulb, the socket popped out. It works best if you slide one finger up from behind to hold it in place while pushing in the tiny lamp.

just pull the bezel.. behind it you will see the clear plastic resonator and it will just pop out gaining you access to the bulb.... T5 is the base style but the bulb is a 74

This is so helpful! With winter coming and I actually have to use the AC controls now, it's a struggle to feel around for what I need at night.
