Any one help identify what this connection is (the one with the two prongs sticking out). I thought it was related to the cold start injectors but can't say for sure. I believe the engine came from a different Toyota at some point in its life so maybe that explains why they don't add up. It starts and runs regardless of whether it is connected or not so I'm not sure what in the heck it is doing. Bonus points to anyone who can identify the white female plug that is doing nothing. The reason I'm asking about this is that it is having trouble starting just in the morning (cold start). I'll try the changing the plugs and ensure the battery is good, but thought I'd figure out what this mystery piece is first.

The first picture with the broken wires is for the cold start injector. The second plug is unused.

Get that first plug fixed, and your cold/hard starting issues should go away.

 

Thanks DeathCouger. Any thoughts on why it wouldn't be a solid connection? Did newer Toyota's with 22re's have a style of connection there?

 

Part of the plug is broken off, you will have the splice on a new plug.

 

First plug, CSI injector, looks like the terminals came out of the plug part that would snap on to the csi.
The second plug is for EGR temp sensor and is unused on most vehicles except those designed for Cali and some other areas.
