there is a reason this winch is a third of the others i just don't know what it is. before i made the purchase i would see if i could get replacement parts for it. my concerns would be the solenoid and the electric motor burning up quickly.

 

Looks awfully similar to the Smittybuilt right down to the wire rope in an oddball length and thickness.

I think you just screwed up inserting the link. Type what you want to say...than high light that and click on the little world with the chain link on it, that will give you a window to paste your link into...that is what I did for my links in my sig. I think all you did was change the font to blue

make sure the mounting surface (bolt pattern) is a standard type...

 

looks like it's a rebadged t-maxx, if so they are good winches

 

this was just covered not to long ago, if you search you can find it, i bealive the guy was going to buy an ebay gorilla winch, and ended up going with the Xrc8 because of the lifetime warranty, but he said he had a smaller gorilla winch on a fourwheeler and couldent kill it, (useing it underwater, full of mud exc...)

 

Some of my buddies have cheaper winches and the are broken or have broken in the past. I would definitely say go with a Warn.. a winch is really no place to skimp out your gonna want a good one when your stuck 30 miles from civilization in 3 feet of snow. Keep your eye on craigslist there are some great deals turning up

 

Are there anything bad or known to go bad or wrong with the Smittybilt winch that anybody knows about I wont use it all the time just like maybe once or twice a month because it takes a lot for a toyota to get stuck

ive heard smitty built are pretty good winches..
up in canada we have a guy that has TOP NOTCH WINCHES even ones with air compressors on top

toyota1 has one, he abused the hell out of his first one, and it stopped free spooling, but still worked. then he got another one w/ the lifetime warranty and i don't think it's failed yet.

yea the second one has been great. Ive done some tough pulls with it and its working good! i mean not everyone can afford a warn.

as long as your not some crazy over lander that thinks he needs to go out wheeling into the bush for weeks on end, a cheap winch will suffice.

meh... who needs a winch? With enough rope and pulleys and you can pull an army tank straight up and out a 100m hole by yourself.

 

i have a warn 9.5xp... thing has broken 3 times on me... granted the shop that originally installed it installed it foot forward without rotating the motor to allow the drain holes to work.... after i fixed it its been solid... just make sure you have the drain holes functioning
