My first time replacing injectors 88 4runner

So this week I removed my fuel injectors. I have had a strong order of gas and a lost of power as well, not that I had much power before. I already change out the vapor canister and that did not help at all. I can say this, the injectors are more than likely originale! Not bad for 328,000 miles!!!!

I went to work pulling everything apart and sent my injectors off to Witchhunter to be rebuilt. The last few days I took the time to clean the Throttle body and the Upper intake. After 21 years WOW now thats alot of carbon!! I used mineral spirts, oven cleaner and host of other things to clean everything. Two days of soaking and three trips to the carwash and they are clean Next I took the time to add some paint and I'm pretty happy with the final outcome

I'm sorry I have no pictures of what the stuff look like before I clean it all up! ALL and all for my first time doing this I'm pretty happy with myself and will be happier when its put back together, turn the key and the Runner runs again!!

Here are some pics of my work.

That looks really clean, I think I have to get my injectors cleaned also.
I Have seen some other members paint their intake then they sand the top of the letters EFI and the square surrounding the letters , looks better. Break thinks up a bit.

Good Job !!!

the question is, does it run better? or was it all a waste of time?

Well I have not got the injectors back yet, so I dont know if it runs better or the same? I did not choose this I really had no choice the injectors were not spraying rite and leaking gas and the truck was not running well at all! The injectors had never been changed or cleaned and were in short shot and since I had everything off I figured I would clean 21 years of build up off the the intake and throttle body. Trust me I want to know and I'm looking forward to seeing if the trucks runs better, my guess is that it will. As for the paint I had it sitting around and figured what the hell. I also found that I was leakeing coolant from the thermostat housing and had some hoses that were crack so that got fix as well.

When I have it put back together I will make sure to let you all no the results!

A lot of research across forums got me about $10-$20 per injector. Witchhunter is one of the most respected shops I found and charges $18 per.

Not wierd at all, I'm just as excited! I went from using 4th gear to get up a hill to 3rd and even 2nd in some situations and I'm aware the engine has alot of miles on it but this was riducles. I would love to rebuild the engine but its not in the cards rite know, so maybe this will bring some life back to the old girl!?!
