Can I swap a 4wd engine and tranny with a 2wd tranny and engine

Hello I am really new to this currently have a 88 Toyota pickup and I just purchased a 87 Toyota pickup the 88 is a 3.0 v6 and is 4wd the 87 is a 2.4 I4 and is 2wd can I switch the engine and tranny of the 88 to the 87 with out any problems

he said it won't work. the 4wd chassis is different fromt he 2wd chassis. you could switch the engines if you switch the oil pans but not the transmissions.

nevemind. you couldn't even switch the engines since one is a 3vze and the other is a 22r/e
