Long story short, broke a distributor cap bolt had to pull the distributor to drill and tap the hole. Put the distributor back in it was missing due to being out of timing, fixed that enough to where it should start. Now there is a clunk in the airbox when trying to start. It will just turn over and over and over, and then every now and then ill feel the clunk in the airbox, which that might not have anything to do with it. I dont think its a fuel issue because i can smell the fuel which makes me think it might be flooded but on a 93??? I need some expertise. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Same thing happened to me, except it sounded like a gunshot.
No. 1 Cylinder should be at compression, the 0 mark on the crankshaft pulley. Then the distributor should be pointing a bit to the left, on the No. 1 spot.
Flip the engine if it still does it. When you took it out you probably didn't have the engine at 0.
