Hi, I was looking for an alarm/keyless entry system for my 1993 4runner when I came across this:

Is it true that ALL 1993 4runners have this keyless entry system?
if so, should I buy this:

or buy a better aftermarket alarm with keyless entry and starter

 

Just got get an aftermarket one, i have a viper 350 hv on my 94 runner. Basic and it works. lock unlock and panic.

 

both of those are just replacement key fobs for the factory system not the complete system itself which includes the fob[s] and a receiver/controller box. It was a dealer installed option. There is[was] a source for the factory system on ebay.uk and I think ebay.au but the seller did not post on the US ebay site. It appeared to be a clone of the factory system, possibly made by the OEM supplier. As a previous poster mentioned an aftermarket system sold as part of an alarm system such as a Viper for example would probably be cheaper to go for [and would ad the safety of an alarm system as well].

 

If all you are looking for is keyless entry the 29.99 alarm from frys works great. I've used them on three differnt vehicles.
