Exhaust and other questions

I'm in the middle of my 22r rebuild on my '86 4x4, finally, and I had a few questions that some of you guys may be able to help with.

1) What size exhaust tubing should I use when I redo my exhaust? I've never worked on a 4cyl before, and it occurred to me that 3" may be a bit excessive.

2) What's a decent muffler that's not going to make it sound like some obnoxious lowered mini truck, but still give it a little extra HP?

3) Has anyone tried a heavier flywheel, and what does it do to the power characteristics, mileage, top speed, gear spacing, etc.?

4) What header/muffler am I looking for if I want to do away with my catalytic converter? I live in a farming community and I don't have to smog my vehicles. I really want to do away with as much of the emissions crap as possible, but not sure what exactly I need to keep it running right.

2" to 2.25" is a decent size for a 22R:

I run a 10 lb. heavier than stock flywheel and find it works well off-road, helps with the very low end torque, below about 1000 RPM.

Yeah, I believe centerforce makes a 25 lb. wheel. Stock must be around 15 because they sell an 11 lb. for circle track.
