Exhaust setup questions
alright guys i searched on here, youtube vids and whatnot and cant find what im lookin for. i got a flowmaster 40 and it just pisses me off cuz its so quiet you cant even tell its on there. im young so i like it loud, even if its a 4 banger. i figured maybe someone on here has experience with this or has this setup. will my truck sound the same if i take off the muffler, use my stock cat and run 2.25inch back with no muffler, as to a magnaflow freeflow cat, 2.25inch back with no muffler? or will the magnaflow make it louder? thankye fellers for any input

I took my exhaust off after the cat once and it wasn't that loud. Then I ran it with a magnaflow 2.5" universal, pretty much a big rock wool exhaust tip. Not very loud, then I hollowed the cat and it got a little louder.
You can't get it too loud without losing power because of the lack of backpressure, or with a 4banger I assume getting a header would help.

... chop it all off and hit the "rice" section at Pep Boys or your local stereo shop.besides that... can you make your post a LITTLE more intelligent... you lost the flow with the "... as to a magnaflow...." part.

Try the VX series. Had one put on, 2 days later had it taken off. I'm not young anymore.
Believe me, when you step on the pedal you'll know the engine is running.

i like the sound of straight pipe but only on v8's. i will never put a loud exhaust on my yota. ur right these trucks arent that loud without a muffler. my dad ran mufflerless on his 92 yota and it sounded so bad.

I have a glasspack with the stock cat and a bunch of leaks and it's dumped before the rear axle. It is pretty loud, almost as loud as my bro's car with 3.5" exhaust going into a "ricer" muffler.
So just punch some holes in your exhaust and you're all set lol

Might as well sell the cat to pay for everything else
I just installed a glasspack on my girls 22re 4runner, along with a stock (CHEAP!!!) tailpipe. It honestly sounds pretty damn quiet, but after driving around with no tailpipe I felt an increase in low end power. So I would be weary of putting those big pipes and no muffler on yer rig... Unless you keep the rpm's high...

You want loud? Cut off everything. Take your muffler off and just run a straight pipe outta the cat 2" piping.. You can out fart pipe any honda in a five mile radius, Hell I shot my exhaust out of a 5' piece of pipe infront of my rear tire, and its 2.25" pipe, no muffler, no cat, no nothing, and it wakes up alllllll my neighbors.
