Cam replacment
I was debating on getting either the Crane Cam # 704-0012 or #704-0014. My truck is a stock 22re and I was just wondering if there is anything else I need to replace when doing the swap? (Springs, Rockers....etc).....Just wondering if it would hurt it if I didn't. Thanks

The little 4 cylinder is not really going to sound different with the cam. Mine sounds exactly the same.
What are you looking to do with the truck? A cam will change how the truck responds to your inputs, which is not always good. I got the 261C cam from ENGNBLDR and, while i love the way the truck handles around town and on the trail, on the highway it isn't great. It loses any luster after about 3500, which is where my truck runs on the highway. The stock cam was much better for highway cruising.
You really have to decide what you are doing with this rig. If you do a lot of highway driving, I would avoid changing the cam.

either cam would be an alright choice don't go with the stage 3 because that does mess with the vacuum ant the ecu. I went with a doa c 270 in my turbo'd truck but thats a whole different animal. I like it so far. As for your other questions. You should replace the head gasket because you have to loosen up all the head bolts. While your at it replace the headbolts. It's not recommended to reuse them. The springs aren't probably going to need to be replaced in a motor with that low of miles unless it has been sitting around for a while. The rocker arms shouldn't need replaced either but make sure they are not wearing crooked. there are good direcsions in the FSM for checking the specs on the valvesprings, valve guides, and everything else. While you're at it replace the timing chain and use engnbldrs steel guide.
