Ok guys well I'm new to the Yota world, and I gotta say I hate my stock supsension on my 90runner, I would like a much better ride without lifting it/or lifting it very little. I would like just a nice ride with better flex. Any idea's would be great. Oh on one other thing anyone know of a better skid plate and is there an aftermarket underbelly skid as well thanks for the time!

 

I was wondering the same thing. I have a 92 4Runner I would like to do the same. I live in SD,CAL

 

make it a hover-runner...

then you dont even have to deal with suspension

And as for the full underbelly skid, I'm not sure. Maybe check out Allpro or budbuilt for a better front skid.

 

If you want a better riding truck...umm, are your torsion bars cranked..? There's really not much you can do to make it "ride" better short of double shocks and air bumps. But were not chevy boys. Search a little bit and read around, Id suggest starting with a good pair of shocks. I agree with good shocks and proper rear springs. I replaced my front shocks with standard bilsteins and the rears with doestch tech mv-12 oil shocks and it is smooth. really nice on and off road. on road the soft rear shocks allow for more body roll but it is still very stable. I also found that the stock rear springs would bottom out over most bumps causing the ride suck, so i replaced them with all pro leveling springs. it is a really good ride on the road for what it is.

Get a set of 1.5" ball joint spacers in the front, and "uncrank" the t-bars back to stock height. Get some new coils for the rear and some better shocks all around.

 

also, you can disconnect the front sway bar to allow the front wheels to travel independently of each other and maybe disconnects for the rear sway bar so the rear will articulate better when off-road... I don't recommend driving on road without the rear bar.

 

Can you describe what you think is "bad" about the ride?

In the end, the ride quality is primarily a result of the shock absorbers. Answering the question above will help us narrow down which ones you should look at.

 

Scuba brought up a good point about the torsion bars being cranked havent even thought about that one, do you need a specail tool to adjust those? the ride just feels like every time i go over a bump i just feel like im bottoming out. I get a HUGE THUD. Is there an aftermarket company that makes a good suspenision with out running coil spacers? Spacer's from what I'm thinking wouldn't do a thing but lift it right? I really like the old man emu kit but is it feasible with out the front and rear spacers, ok so I'm gonna quite rambeling but one final thing anyone install the Engery Suspsension Hyper Flex System? If so how many hours did it take and was it worth it? Thanks everyone for helping me out

Sounds like blown shocks to me.

 

I would get either the eibach or the all pro rear coils, with either bilstein all the way around or at least on the front and put doestch tech mv 12's on the rear. it will ride really nice. like i said before a little more body roll but nothing that i have ever found to be dangerous and i push my truck hard sometimes. it is very comfortable ride on the freeway as well.

 

My pickup did the same thing. The torsion bars were old and sagged and it actually would bottom out going over expansion joints and such. take a look at where your bump stops hit. If it is clean (you can put a blob of grease there then drive around if you can't tell), it is probably bottoming out all the time. Pretty easy job really. Just spray the whole bolt down with pen oil for a couple days befory you start. The front of my truck rides great now. To bad the rear is resting on the overload...
