I have been pumping the hell out of the pedal and i get a half a$$ pedal that will let me go into gear when the truck is off, but when on wont go into gear. how long should it take the new parts to be rid of air? Also does the rod going through the firse wall to the pedal need any type of adjustment to make the pedal work?

 

Did you bleed the system? I just installed both and mine is really really soft but goes into and out of gears just fine

 

the system was completely drained we bled it like the toyota manual said, and still wont go into gear.

Then pumped the hell out of it till we got some pedal, pumped it like 10 times held and bled, over and over.

 

Can you see the slave cylinder piston go out when the pedal is depressed?

 

There is an adjustment bolt on your clutch pedal in side the cab. I had to adjust mine when I put new master and slave cylinder in.

 

The plunger on the slave does move in and out as in moving the clutch fork. I am thinking I have a pressure plate issue. We finally got all of the air out of the lines, but I still dont have enough pressure to get the truck into any gear when the truck is on. If I put the truck in first or reverse, and start it like normal, it starts wanting to move, even with the pedal fully engaged. I guess I have to do a new clutch kit who hoo!!!!

 

have someone push on the clutch pedal and hold. Crawl underneath and see if you can get it to move anymore by hand. to me it sound like you have somthing going on with the master and slave, air bubble, adjustment. dont' think its fully depressing the fork. What fluid are you running in the clutch system? i run dot 4, higher temp rating.

 

I had the same problem when I put my master on. I had to adjust the pedal out a good bit more than the stock one before I got some pressure.

wow i just did this to my truck 2 days ago had to replace the slave then found out it was the master so replaced both. i really had to bleed the lines through 3 cycles to get all the air out and now its working perfect, Knock on wood! make sure u bleed them well cause the clutch will act like its working but once u hold the clutch in for some time and the air compresses the clutch will retract and u r stuck in gear almost rear ended someone at a red light last week because of this, hope you figure it out

 

Also, I have heard that a lot of old timers will bleed this particular style clutch by simply filling the resevior, cracking the bleeder and just letting it slowly work its way down. Just letting it sit, and letting the fluid work the air out on its own. It will take time, but it's a pretty good method.
