'90 4runner fender chop

hey can anyone tell me how much extra clearence i get from chopping the outer fender flange off ?? i wanna run 35" bfg m/ts and i know i can do it with a 3" body lift yes they will rub a lil when all the way turned or full flex so i will have to cut a lil,..... but i was wondering if i cut a lil more if i can avoid the body lift??

Here's the definitive guide on how to trim:
http://www.trailslesstraveled.com/ar...ny-lift-height

Are you talking about the front or rear? Rear is going to be a problem - the door gets in the way of much trimming.

you should be able to cut the back enough for 35's but the thing is that its 2 layers and once you cut they will be separate and you will have a gap. but if you can weld then all you would have to do is weld it back together
heres what mine look like i still havent welded them yet

ok so i threw them on and just had to chop the back of the front fenders a bit but its gonna rub at full flex so i am gonna add the 3" body lift in a few days i know quite a few friends who made there own for like 50$ using allthread and 1/4 inch 2X3 inch square stock is that a bad i idea and if so y?? i am a lil low on cash and dont really wanna spend 140 bones on a nylon body lift:/ is it really worth the extra money???

You need at least Grade 8 hardware ... allthread is rarely rated for load.

The spacers need to be big enough and subsantial enough to fully support the body.

If you're tight on cash, why not just trim more - it's free!

... oh - and PIX!

Curious: do your front tires rub the frame rail at full lock with that setup?
