Got bored after school today so I decided to ride through my woods and take some pictures of the 4Runner. I haven't taken any pics since I made my new bumper and put the claws on or my IFS lift. Keep in mind I wasn't playing in the mud. Just taking a scenic little cruise in low range with the hubs unlocked. Being one with nature. I went around as much mud as I could. Anyway, here we go:

It might look short, but I'd like to see anyone get through this hole without at least 33s and lockers front and rear. It's deep and the bottom is soft and you have to go up a hill on the exit.

This one is short too, but drops down like a cliff into deep ruts and a hill on both sides.

Trying really hard not to fall into the ruts and get it dirty...

 

That's one sexy truck. I want it!

As you can see below, I don't mind getting it dirty. But I am afraid of rust. I don't like to leave heavy mud on my truck for more than a day or two. And the water hose has been frozen solid for a few weeks now. So I'm holding out for warmer weather. But here's a mud bog pic. I only had a rear locker here. I've had nothing but full pulls since I put the front locker in. 34 TSLs on here.

You're lucky to live where you do scuba. But I really lucked out with my 4Runner. There isn't a bit of rust on it except my right front fender from hitting a deer and the chrome trim collecting rain. My new fender came in yesterday. My frame is clean as a whistle, and my daily driver has more rust than the 4Runner. I just like to play with my truck AND keep it rust free.

 

Touche. You do have a nice truck, I dont blame you for trying to take it easy on it sometimes.

$300. But when I got it it was all stock, had a worn out 22RE with 363,000 miles on it that burned lots of oil. And the rear axle ring and pinion were so worn out it hummed going 25 mph.

 

did you get all that other stuff fixed?

 

Yes. I put a rear axle from an 86 pickup in mine, and I took the Turbo 22RE out of another 86 pickup and put that in my 4Runner.

 

That truck is badass man, love the way it looks with the soft top. I feel your pain with the rust thing, I am pretty much paranoid to not let mud stay on for longer than a few days also.

 

Thanks man. Do you like your soft top? I think we have basically the same one. I got mine used for $150 on craigslist. Came with no instructions or anything, and it was a major pain in the ass to put it on and get everything close to right. But once the installation was over I fell in love with it. And it's so nice not needing another person to take the top down/off like the hardtop. And rolling up the back and sides is perfect when you want the open air without baking in the direct sunlight. The beach is tons of fun.

 

Truck looks good! Also who makes your front bumper? or did you fab it up?

 

Thanks camch. I bought a front winch mount from trail gear and made the rest. All it is is five pieces of pipe welded at various angles. And the license plate mount is off the back of a 74? Firebird. It had the spring loaded flap over the gas cap. Oh, and I welded a front range off road front frame brace on, then bolted the bumper to the frame through that.

It's strong too. About a week after I made it I hit a deer going 65mph. Wasn't even on the brakes. Cut the deer in half. Bent my passenger tie rod. Got fur stuck in the bead of the tire. If it wasn't for the bumper my hood, fender, inner fender, and radiator support/radiator would have been gone for sure. It hit the passenger side of the bumper towards the end. That end tweaked backwards about an inch. I'm the only person that can notice it. Since my alignment was already way off, I decided to put on my 4" ifs lift I had sitting around. That leads to where I am now.

Do you still have the old winch bumper and if so do you want to sell it? I am looking for one like the one you had before you took off your stock bumper? Also if you still have it can you take close up pictures of it so I can see...I may want to fab one...don't want to take the stock bumper off mine yet.
