85 4rnr 4.3 swap pics

I have been working on this swap for a while and some of you have seen the thread. '98 4.3 vortec with a multiport mercruiser intake, megasquirt II stand alone ignition and fuel controller with an EDIS 6 distributorless ignition.
700r4 tranny, toyota gear drive transfer case.

Its finally starting to take shape so I wanted to post up these pics...

Split rail multiport - it has 6- 24 lb. bosch injectors(rated 220 hp) instead of the central port injection ( rated 190 hp), larger/more open ventura, stepper iac valve, and a nifty vacuum operated fuel regulator... I couldn't resist.

That's good to hear. You helped me several times when I was a newb.

I am very close to having it all wired and have an appointment tuesday to install the exhaust... so close I can taste it!

Yes from a '94 4runner, bolted right up and now combined with the landcruiser rotors and '94 4runner calipers -she stops on a dime!

It's 2.25" from the collectors to the crossover and 2.5" from there on back thru a flomax, It sounds much better in person.

I wired up the torque converter lockup and neutral/park safety switch yesterday and found the correct wires to wire the alternator, so after some tuning tomorrow morning I will hit the road.
I still have the 5.29's in it (I have the original 4.30's to reinstall) and the idle is set too high, when I put it in gear it chirped the tires.. It just feels like it wants to go!

I have been thinking of this same swap for my own rig a 84 with carb of course but my budget limited me to a lift and gears with some 32x11.50 BFG a/t s on eagle alloy wheels tires had 90% tread got those for 450. Yours looks geat i am very glad yours is working out so well. If you don't mind me asking how mutch you got into it with the transplant and all. send me a pm if you like

You could do the basic swap for under 3K but I have at least 5K in this one.
But I totally overhauled the engine, .30 over pistons, rebuilt tranny, 2" body lift, tuned port injection, new starter, new alternator, megasquirt....
If you started with a good complete donor for the 4.3 and tranny, already had the gear drive t'case in your rig the other parts would be:
AA adapter kit with headers and motor mounts $800
Body lift with new bushings $180
Radiator $200
exhaust work $300
misc. hoses, fittings, belts, intake... $500
Driveline work $300

Total $2280
