Right on man! I have a 1st Gen too! And they aren't the only "real" 4runners Don't hate on the other years...I could say my 4runner is the only "real" 4runner because it is an '85 and has a solid axle

But I won't

I will post some pics later...I need to take pics of my new mods I did over the last few weeks!

GOOD POINT!!! i guess that did sound kinda brutal. I Think ALL year 4runners are the best cars made. Though i think they are sliding downhill. I still think they are great rigs!! I just personally like the 1st gen's the best. Hopefully i didnt hurt anyones feelings. Thanks for bringing my attention to how i sounded and i appoligize!

mtnkid85....
Looks like your runner is shaping up real nice.
Are you gonna regear when you go to 33's?

I purchased my rack back in '98 i think. Corey had purchased the Yakima Load Warrior and got me hooked. He put a bug in my wife's ear and she bought me the Load Warrior for my birthday.
I purchased my rack from G.I. Joes for around $220 or so.
They were having a sale at the time.

Its a real nice rack. I have had so much crap up there.
When i had the rack on my old '97 4runner we went camping one year at the beach and i had (3) tents, (1) picnic table, (1) cooler, (2) lawn chairs, (1) baby crib, (1) stove, (1) water jug and a bunch of sand toys.
I couldn't beleive how much fits in there. Corey purchased the 18" extension to make it even larger. A small airplane could land on Corey's

Do a google search for Yakima Load Warrior. Looks like some shops are having sales.

I have a 1986 1st gen Runner. It's in really bad shape, but I'm in the process of bringing it back to life. I'll post some pics of it soon as I'm doing to be doing a partial front end rebuild that will include a balljoint spacer lift (can't afford SAS yet).

hey guys

mines an 88 and my dad bought it brand new and have kept it really nice. It's mine now and i've done some mods. I'd call it a "real" 4runner. I just wish i had a solid axle . But hey can't complain too much. I got the V6. It's not all that but hey i don't think i could live with a 4cly. the way i drive. (no offense) sorry no pics now but hopefully by the end of the month.

Right on man!! We got a bunch of youngins in here! It sounds like you have some great plans for your runner. When i first put on my lift and 33's i thought i was going to be done, but that is sooo far from the truth its rediculous!! I got them on when i was 15 and just recently turned 16(august 17) and i already want to go BIGGER. First i need some gears, im going to go with the 5.29's. After that i have 2 thoughts, and give me you thoughts or advice please.
Thought #1: Go big with a 4-5" superlift IFS lift on top of my body lift and cranked torsion bars(about 9" all together), with some 38's of some sort most likely 38/14.50 swamper sx's or or 38/16 tsl.
Thought #2: Go gnarly with the same lift that i have now... but stuff some huge 35/16 boggers in it. Id get some bushwacker cut-out flares and do some refabing of the inner fenderwell. basically make it looks like a tractor.
Give me your thoughts Thanks

I have a 2nd gen pickup, which is the 1st gen 4Runner. And I just turned 17! Whats up with this generation and youngins?! Probably nothing, they are just cheaper. And better. Just kidding.
